The Use Of Laser Hair Removal

It is common for some people to do what they can in private to deal with the hair while suffering emotional distress in public because they generally suffer from the stigma of being different due to excessive facial or body hair. When residents received two more options for hair removal, it was during the past few months, one uses laser technology and the other one uses a more advanced form of light treatment. In the past several months, a family physician in Altoona has been doing laser hair removal. She explained that essentially, lasers give off high energy light.
Here, the light does nothing to the skin but concentrates on the hair to destroy the hair follicle if you shine the light on skin with hair on it. With regard to this, it is different from electrolysis which puts a needle in each hair follicle and zaps it with an electric current making it tedious and painful. In less than a minute, laser treatment can treat an upper lip while with electrolysis, it can take 30 minutes. Here, per area, two to three treatments are needed. Including upper lips, chins, underarms, and bikini lines, these are what she does for women. Most of the time, men want hair removal to thin out beards, on their backs, and on their necks.
In order for people with dark pigmented skin and fine blond hair to get their desired results, there are some modifications that can be applied to the procedure.
The cost is approximately $200 for the initial consultation and first session. Amounting to $200 for an area on the face and $350 for the bikini line or underarm are the follow up treatments. For fees for larger areas such as the legs or back, these are negotiable. In the case of photothermolysis, it is the underlying technology of how physicians go after the target area. Responsible for destroying the hair follicles is the heat that is given off by the light source.
What light waves have are different frequencies similar to radio waves that have different frequencies. The way the machine works is just like someone who tunes in to different radio stations as it gets the correct light frequency for each person, based on the hair color, hair thickness, and skin color. A machine like this which is about the size of a stacked apartment size washer dryer combination has changeable filters so that you can adjust the intensity of the light for each patient. Usually, the light flash lasts about 5/lOOOths of a second and about 30 pulses of light are done during a treatment.
What the pulse hits is a 1/2 inch by 1 1/2 inch area similar to a stick of gum. Here, thirty of those pulses equal about 20 square inches and so the surgeon can do a lip and chin area or both cheeks in one session. For each area, have two to three treatments. With regard to the follow up visits, have them about a month apart to allow time for the hair follicles to die and fall out. Time is important because it can activate the hairs that were in their resting phase since only active hairs can be treated here.
Some doctors describe this procedure as permanent hair reduction or long term hair removal, not permanent hair removal. Common side effects here include minor skin irritation and minimal swelling. They say the side effects are temporary, and patients can go back to their regular activities immediately after the procedure.
