Medically recognized as a disease leading to thinning of bones and loss of strength, osteoporosis is a common type of bone disease. a person suffers from it when his body is not able to repair or re-form due to factors such as increasing age or deficiency of minerals. In later stages of this disease, bones may become brittle leading to fractures from minor impact. It can also lead to a stooped back and curved spine.

Osteoporosis may not show any major signs until one may suffer from a fracture that in not caused by any major impact. Due to body losing vital minerals and potassium, these bones may suddenly break or develop cracks. In early stages of Osteoporosis there would not be any pain. It's only in the later stages that body experiences pain and discomfort, along with a feeling of tenderness in the affected area. This may continue for weeks together.
Also since the body becomes weak and tends to stoop, it is hard for an individual to hold himself straight. This leads to falls and accidents causing fractures in already weak bones. the most affected area to such falls is the Hip fracture.
